Shortly after my last post I came down with a terrible illness. I'm not sure what I technically had besides bronchitis, but I was in bed for 3 weeks!I've never been so sick. I tried to stay on my low carb diet for the first 3 days but I had to give it up. When I was growing up, my Mom always gave me saltines, sprite and sherbert when I was sick. So on day 3 or 4 hubby went to get me the "sick supplies".
After 8 bottles of Delsym, boxes upon boxes of DayQuil and NyQuil, and a trip to the ER, I'm feeling tons better. Even though I'm not really sick anymore, I feel like crap! I've been eating nothing but crap, so that's how I feel. Oh and yeah, I've put on a few pounds. It is true "diets don't work". Life style changes work. If you lose a ton of weight on a diet then return to eating the same old things that made you fat. Guess what? You will get fat again!
This year has been difficult so far. On January 4th my sister-in-law, who was only 39, suddenly passed away. Pulmonary embolism was the cause, but the result of losing a loved one, with no goodbyes or warning has been hard and impossible to understand. I have gained a few things from her passing. One big thins is that this, right here, this moment, IS life. Not tomorrow, not when I lose 20 or 100 lbs, not when the kids are 18... this, right now is life. We need more pictures, more passion, more living and less waiting for the next whatever. So tomorrow I'm going to live and yes, I'm going back to low carb. I was feeling really good even tho the scales didn't move too much.
Tell your loved ones everyday that you love them. Do something everyday to make you feel healthy and alive.
I'll check back in soon.
